Americans spend approximately 384 million each year on Orthotics-on a prescriptions for custom-made orthotics or custom-made shoes, An orthotic is a corrective device worn inside a shoe to help the muscles, tendons and bones of your feet and lower legs function at their highest potential. Further, we spend about 300 billion on orthopedics and services annually. During an analysis, a provider observes how you walk, identifying any existing accommodations or abnormalities. Based on the assessment, the provider discusses treatment options and explains how the treatment will help meet your specific needs. What's all this for? To be able to walk normally without pain and use muscles, tendons and bones of your feet and lower legs function at their highest potential. Can that be extended to other areas of the patients life?
The real question is why stop there? Why limit the scope to just walking? What about hands, arms and fingers? What about guitarists needs? How can they use their hands, fingers and arms to play their instruments for maximum comfort, ease and musical potential? In the Haywire Custom Shop these questions has been asked and answered. We simply work with players who have "specific needs" to help them get the most out of their playing ability using the best instrument parts that we also customize for their comfort and design for their body parts-whether large or small for maximum benefits.
Orthopedic guitar necks and bodies? Ever heard of that? Sure-we do it! In the shop before we start a build we'll get the guitar specs and body specs of players who have special concerns. Here are just a few of the problems we address for players:
1)- Neck profiles and special scaled necks for players with small hands.
2)- Neck profiles and special scaled necks for players with large hands.
3)- Players with neck and back pain issues will get special light-weight bodies without sacrificing tone.
4)- Longer and shorter scale necks are used with "range of motion issues".
5)- Electronics in players favorite guitars are moved to more light-weight body applications so as to keep everything they have close by-except the weight.
6)-Volume knobs, switches and tone pots are moved around on the guitar for easier access.
7) The re-location of electronics and/or switches for any comfort reasons are critical.
8) Neck profiles and necks are shaved to assist in any physical limitations players may have with regards to stress of hands, stamina and duration issues.
In short, we help players with physical issues to overcome these issues with the modifications we build into the guitar-just right for that particular player. Orthopedic necks and bodies? You bet!! We do it all!!
